Glossary entry
Market data consists of information about trading and instruments, including quotations, trades, volume, order-book depth, and reference details. Feeds differ in venue coverage, update speed, granularity, and licensing. A chart or quote panel is a processed view of that information, so its timestamp, adjustments, and data source are essential to correct interpretation.
Illustrative example
One service displays delayed last trades while another shows current bids and asks. Their numbers can differ without either display containing a calculation error.
What to consider
Confirm delay, time zone, venue coverage, and adjustment rules. An attractive-looking data display does not by itself establish timeliness or completeness.
General information, not a personal recommendation. Product availability, rights, and obligations are determined by the relevant provider, jurisdiction, and approved agreements.
