Understanding a source-of-funds check

These checks seek an evidence trail for a particular payment or amount of money.

Educational guideSeptember 2026

Explain the origin of the payment

A source-of-funds review asks how money used in a transaction was obtained. It differs from simply proving that a bank account bears your name, and from describing your overall wealth. An explanation might involve employment income, savings or an asset sale, depending on the actual circumstances. The useful record connects the underlying event to the money movement without inventing a more convenient explanation for a reviewer.

Build a consistent evidence trail

Keep relevant dates, amounts and account references aligned across the records you provide. Ask the verified service which documents are needed and whether unrelated details may be redacted; do not alter material facts. FYLU has not published an operational review policy or upload channel. The automated helper cannot conduct an identity or funds review, and private bank statements should not be entered into a general explanatory conversation.

General information, not a personal recommendation. Product availability, rights, and obligations are determined by the relevant provider, jurisdiction, and approved agreements.
