Understanding an unexpected stop trigger

Trigger price, chart price and execution price can refer to different observations.

Educational guideSeptember 2026

Compare the relevant quote

A stop may use the bid, ask, last trade or another contractually defined reference. A chart displaying only one of those values may not show the exact observation used to activate the order. Also distinguish activation from execution: a triggered stop-market order can fill beyond its trigger during rapid movement or a gap. Check the instrument's rules before concluding that a difference proves an error.

Build a reproducible timeline

Preserve the original stop instruction, amendments, trigger record, execution confirmation and timestamps with their time zone. Ask the actual provider which quote activated the order and how the fill was determined. Include the requested quantity and any partial fills. FYLU has no live stop-management service or private execution records in this preview. Its automated helper cannot adjudicate a trade, refund a loss or verify a screenshot against a broker's internal quote history.
